Nuclear medicine

Overview
The Nuclear Medicine department provides diagnostic and therapeutic services. Our duty is to deliver high quality functional Imaging & therapeutic services, which will enable:

Providing accurate diagnosis as well as the appropriate therapy to ensure high-quality patient care.

Using all facilities on hand to minimize patient waiting time, ensure quality imaging results, and avoid patient, public, and staff exposure to unnecessary ionizing radiation

Becoming and remaining a reliable nuclear medicine center by following a policy of continuous improvement in our methods through modernization of the equipment, quality assurance, and continuing education programs for all categories of staff
Scope of services:

Positron Emission Tomography: The hospital contains one device that measures the activity of cancer cells and contributes to accurately determining the extent of tumor spread and is used to help in the diagnosis of patients, as well as periodic follow-up during and after the end of treatment and assess whether the existing tumor still contains active cells or not.

Gamma camera (dual-headed): It performs various diagnostic tests for oncology patients (atomic scan on thyroid tumors, atomic scan on bones) and for non-oncology patients, such as (increasing thyroid activity, determining kidney function and identifying parathyroid tumors).

Booking room for radioactive iodine patients: Holding patients of therapeutic doses of radioactive iodine for the treatment of thyroid tumor diseases until the patients' radiological measurements reach the safe limit, after which the patients are discharged.

Medical reporting room and outpatient clinic: For the follow-up of frequent patients with the necessary radiographs and analyzes.

Hot lab: In it, doses of radioactive materials are prepared, and it is a restricted area except for those working in it.
